Shipped! This week we shipped 5 pallets of nutritional powders to Share Tanzania in Kilimajaro, Tanzania. They care for disabled and homeless children in the region and often come across malnourished orphans as well which they bring to their local hospital for rehabilitation before taking them into their care. We wanted to help provide them and their local hospital with formulas to help the malnourished children recover, to provide healthy nutrition to the physically disabled children requiring feeding tubes to intake food, and to any child that does not have access to the full spectrum of dietary nutrition due to the limited food diversity in their region. Included in the shipment are five formulas targeting these key needs amongst the children in their area and in the care.

1) F-75 Therapeutic Milk Powder Formula: For children with severe acute malnutrition to help stabilize and reintroduce nutrition into their systems. Children with such complications are unable to tolerate regular levels of proteins, fats, and sodium. The F-75’s carbohydrate-rich formula is recommended by the World Health Organization as phase 1 for treatment of severe acute malnutrition. 

2) F-100 Therapeutic Milk Powder Formula: Used for phase 2 of the treatment protocol designed by the World Health Organization for treatment of severe acute malnutrition. When the child has regained their appetite and their bodies are ready to metabolize fats and proteins, F-100 formula is given to them to continue their rehabilitation.

3) Plumply Nut Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food: While both F-75 and F-100 formulas need to be administered to a child in a hospital setting due to the sensitivity of their condition, the Plumply Nut formula is an outpatient solution. This formula helps restore the child to the size and weight they should be at their age, now that their bodies and digestive systems have been stabilized and rehabilitated.

4) Wong Foundation Fruit & Veggie Powder Mix: Custom-formulated blend of fruits and vegetables with all the vitamins and minerals a growing child needs. It can be easily mixed with water to be given to children to drink, or administered through feeding tubes for more physically impaired children.

5) Wong Foundation Chocolate Protein Powder Mix: Custom-formulated blend of proteins to provide a high amount of healthy calories. This powder formula is also designed to be mixed with water for easy consumption.
